Students who will be moving to fifth form in the next school year (2011-2012) are being targeted for the annual Summer School of the University of the West Indies’ (UWI) Open Campus.

The event will be held at the UWI, Cave Hill Campus, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from July 11 to August 12, 2011.

It is designed to provide students with academic tuition in selected subject areas of choice, guidance in the transition from fourth form to the fifth form class environment, as well as prepare them for the sitting of the Caribbean Examinations Council’s exams.

The subjects on offer to students are English Language, Information Technology, Spanish, French, Mathematics, History, Chemistry, Physics, biology, Human and Social Biology, Integrated Science, Geography, Social Studies, Principles of Accounts and Principles of Business. However, according to the Campus, the offering of any one course is subject to the availability of an adequate number of students.

Prospective fifth formers will also be exposed to useful workshops in important areas such as time management and study tips and they will be given an assessment report by the subject tutor of their performance during the programme.

The deadline for registration is July 5.
