The Barbados National Registry (BNR) for Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (CNCDs) will have an Open Day next Wednesday, March 4.

The special day, which will be held at the BNR’s headquarters located at the Chronic Disease Research Centre (CDRC), at Jemmott’s Lane, St. Michael, bears the theme: “Raising Awareness and Understanding about the BNR”. 

The Open Day runs from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

It is targeted at the general public, specifically schools, hospitals, ministries, public and private laboratories and those in the medical and nursing professions. A key objective is to highlight the role/function of the BNR and how it can help improve health-care in Barbados. 

Professor Anselm Hennis, who is the Director of the CDRC and lead investigator for the Barbados National Cancer Study (BNCS), will speak on heart attacks and other cardiovascular issues.

Following the event, there will be an official launch of the Registry at 4:00 p.m. Minister of Health, Donville Inniss will deliver the feature address, while Chief Medical Officer (Ag), Dr. Kenneth George will give welcome remarks.
