The Eden Lodge Nursery School today launched its Open Day activities under the theme Don’t Just Stand There, Let’s Get Moving.
The event, which will continue until Friday, June 3, is aimed at providing parents, guardians and educators with the opportunity to view students’ work for the school year, while also giving them insights into healthy living. ??The importance of literacy and developmentally-appropriate practices in the early childhood years, will also be examined.
Addressing the opening of today’s event, Principal of the Nursery School, Rose-Claire Blades challenged parents to "inspire our children to move towards positive morals and values; to embrace the disabled community and to let children live out their dreams."
Nursery-aged students performed short skits, poems and songs; and parents and other visitors were given the opportunity to view the exhibits.
Tomorrow, June 2, will be devoted to literacy activities and this will include story-telling and puppetry by Jennifer Yarde of the National Library Service’ and Esme Bascombe, an Early Childhood Specialist and retired Principal of the St. Alban’s Infants School.
On Friday, June 3, under the theme Keep Moving Stay Healthy, there will be dental checks by the Black Rock Polyclinic, as well as a demonstration on The Importance of Exercise and Movement For Healthy Living by Dr. Renee Boyce of the Winston Scott Polyclinic.?? The day will conclude with a music and movement demonstration by Caroline Brathwaite of the National Cultural Foundation.
