During the period of national pause, which begins on Wednesday, February 3, and runs until Wednesday, February 17, a number of operational changes at the Port of Bridgetown will be in effect.

The port will continue to service vessels as usual. Deliveries will be done at the Container Park and Shed 4 from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. daily.

The port will also deliver and receive essential and emergency cargo only. Essential cargo is defined as: food supplies, including perishable goods; pharmaceutical and medical supplies; farming and agricultural goods; tanks for oil companies; export cargo, containing locally manufactured items, and any other goods deemed as essential for the purpose of supporting an essential national purpose and granted an exemption by the Office of the Attorney General.

A statement from Barbados Port Inc. today also outlined that containers would be unstuffed and stuffed periodically, while Shed 2 would remain closed to deliveries of personal effects.

Persons are also advised that entry into the port for essential cargo collection and delivery will be by appointment only, to ensure the cargo is unstuffed and delivered, and that exports are facilitated in an efficient and timely manner.

The mandatory wearing of masks, temperature checks, frequent hand sanitisation and the observance of social distancing protocols while facilitating business will be strictly enforced.

During the period of national pause, customers are strongly encouraged to utilise the online payment platform at www.barbadosport.com to make payments for: Free Alongside Ship (FAS), (Receiving Storage & Delivery and Tonnage Dues); unstuffing charges; storage charges; plug charges; hazardous cargo handling charges, and security charges.

The statement also noted that the port has waived storage charges attributed to COVID-19 mitigation measures.
