A two-year partnership with a top premier league football club is just one of many sporting projects the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) has invested in for 2015 out of the United Kingdom (UK).

The BTMI???s latest partnership is with the Liverpool Football Club (FC), which will run until the end of the 2015/2016 Barclays Premiere League season.

As part of this initiative, ???Barbados days??? were held, which saw dancers, music and food, as well as travel agents selling Barbados holiday packages, present at the club???s grounds .

The partnership also includes LED advertising on the grounds, a presence on the Liverpool FC website, e-mail blasts to the club???s fan database, a presence at Liverpool FC club events and advertising on Liverpool FC television channel.

According to the BTMI, with an estimated following of over 11.5 million fans in the United Kingdom and 580 million worldwide, Liverpool FC remains one of the most popular footballs clubs in the world and a valuable partner.

The club???s popularity was brought to the fore at the just-concluded World Travel Market conference held in London. Former Liverpool and England player, and current Sky Soccer Saturday pundit, Phil Thompson, drew a crowd when he joined the Barbados stand.

Also on the sports books for 2015 is the Third Test cricket match between England and the West Indies from May 1 to 5, and the continuation of the partnership between the island and the popular Hampshire Cricket Club team.

In response, Thomas Cook airline will be providing an extra flight to Barbados ahead of the series. Meanwhile, the Hampshire Cricket club partnership, which has already seen the popular UK side enjoy four consecutive pre-season tours in Barbados, will see the team return in March 2015 for a pre-season tour alongside the Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire sides.
