Strong recommendations have been made to show Barbadian films on television channels throughout Korea.
These recommendations were made by Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, during a recent courtesy call with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Wonkun Hwang, at his office.
During the visit, Mr. Lashley expressed an interest in visiting Korea to meet with that country???s Minister of Culture to discuss the cultural industry.
???It could be an opportunity for our film producers to show films in Korea???as part of an exchange,??? he said, noting the films received good response from in and out of Barbados.
He added that there were also opportunities for the countries to conclude a bilateral agreement for culture and sports.
The Minister noted that Barbados had a very vibrant sporting programme at the National Sports Council, which included a range of sporting activities including swimming, track and field and tennis.
Ambassador Wonkun agreed, noting that he believed a cultural agreement should be proposed between the foreign ministries of both countries. He also expressed an interest in bringing cultural artistes to Barbados to perform when the opportunity presented itself, and in seeing some of the Barbadian films.
He added that the Korea Foundation could also be used to introduce Caribbean life to Korea.
The Ambassador further encouraged Barbados to submit proposals for assistance in the sporting arena so they could be examined.
Barbados and the Republic of Korea established bilateral relations in November 1977.
