This was announced by Czech Ambassador Edita Hrda during a courtesy call on Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Steven Blackett, yesterday at the Warrens Complex in St. Michael.

The Ambassador disclosed that her country had funds available for the development of projects in countries with small economies, adding that Barbados could exploit these funds through education.??

Remarking that educational development was essential, Ambassador Hrda said she hoped there could be cooperation between universities and schools in Barbados and the Czech Republic.?? The envoy stressed that it would be mutually beneficial for a few schools in Barbados and the Czech Republic to form "friendships" where students could interact with each other through technology.??

In welcoming the Ambassador to Barbados, Minister Blackett said he was pleased that the two countries "are on a path to strengthen their relations".

The Minister and the Ambassador underlined that closer ties between the two nations would enrich the lives of students in both countries, resulting in the students developing a wider world view and mastering language skills.
