The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT) will host an orientation session on Friday, May 6 for persons who recently applied for training under the Barbados Construction Gateway Training Initiative (BCGTI).

The orientation for participants will take place at the Wildey Gymnasium, Wildey, St. Michael, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Minister Kay McConney will deliver remarks.

The BCGTI was launched on Wednesday, April 13, at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI), and Barbadians were subsequently invited to apply for training in one of 24 skill areas.

Several individuals responded and submitted applications either online or by hard copy to participate in the initiative that will see the various institutions under the METVT facilitating the training.

These are the Barbados Vocational Training Board; Barbados Community College, and the SJPI, aided by the Technical and Vocational Educational Training Council. The National Transformation Initiative is also collaborating with the METVT to offer training.
