The Barbados Employment and Career Counselling Service (BECCS) will hold two orientation sessions for 27 Barbadians who will travel to Canada at month-end to work in the hotel sector.

These will take place on Tuesday, October 27, and Wednesday, October 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. in the Amphitheatre, 1st Floor, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael.

A major objective of the sessions is to remind workers of the terms and conditions of the contracts, proper work ethics and what is expected from them as ambassadors of the Barbados Government.

The group is headed to Blue Mountain Hotel, Ontario, to work as housekeepers, and they are due to travel on October 31, on Air Canada.

In February of this year, the workers were selected by the Blue Mountain recruiters for travel in April, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, both here and abroad, they were unable to do so.

The BECCS is a department under the aegis of the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations. Its role is to provide high quality employment services to all Barbadian job seekers, employers, training institutions, government agencies and other stakeholders.
