Over 1,600 students are expected to receive degrees, diplomas or certificates next month when the Barbados Community College (BCC) hosts its 40th Graduation Ceremony at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St. Michael.
The ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, November 9, from 5:00 p.m., has as its theme: Maintaining a Vision in Times of Uncertainty.
Barbados??? Ambassador to CARICOM, Robert Morris will deliver the feature address.
The College will confer 1,604 degrees, diplomas and certificates across a range of disciplines that include Social Work, Psychology, Mass Communication, Hospitality Studies, Tourism and Travel, Culinary Arts, Physical Education, General Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Architectural Studies, Land Surveying, Music, Theatre Arts, Business Studies, Finance and Investment, Public Sector Management and Police Training.
One hundred and eighty-four students will be presented with the Associate Degree in Arts, 65 with the Associate Degree in Science, 254 with the Associate Degree in Applied Arts and 364 with the Associate Degree in Applied Science. An additional 642 will receive BCC certificates.
The BCC will also confer 13 Post Graduate Diplomas, 20 Bachelor Degrees and 62 Post Associate Degree Diplomas under it Higher Degree Programmes.
This year???s graduating class has also been awarded five First Class Honours, 10 Upper Second Class Honours, and seven Lower Second Class Honours. Fifty-one Distinctions and 78 Credits will also be conferred on Associate Degree graduands.
The valedictory address will be given by Taylor Mirkarimi, a Barbados Exhibition winner, who is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science Degree at Johnson and Wales University, Miami, Florida.
