The State of Palestine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for Caribbean Affairs, Dr. Linda Sobeh Ali, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr. The Most Honourable Jerome Walcott, yesterday.

During the meeting, Senator Walcott welcomed the non-resident Ambassador, who was making her first official visit to Barbados since taking up her post.

Dr. Walcott stated that Barbados maintains its support for peaceful negotiations towards a two-state solution between Palestine and Israel, and added that he looked forward to working with the diplomat.

Ambassador Ali enlightened those present, including Permanent Secretary, Simone Rudder; Senior Foreign Service Officer, Trecia King; and Foreign Service Officer, Jamar Payne, on the history and current status of relations between Palestine and Israel. She thanked the Government of Barbados for its support for a two-state solution between her nation and Israel.

The two envoys also discussed the Covid-19 pandemic; access to vaccines; elections in Palestine; technical support in agriculture; and the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA).
