The Bureau of Gender Affairs is inviting the public to a panel discussion on Thursday, February 18, at The St. Michael School, Martindales Road, St. Michael, at 7:00 p.m.

The topic of the panel discussion, which is being held to celebrate the Day of Women of the Americas, is: Women working to build a Better Future.

Following remarks from Principal Delegate to the Inter-American Commission of Women, Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner, Acting Chief Community Development Officer, Patricia Hackett-Codrington, will speak on Gendered Beliefs and the way they impact women.

In addition, Evangelist Andrea Harris will present on Building a Better You, while Reverend Cheryl Trotman will deliver a presentation on Gender and Intimate Partner Relationships.

February 18 is recognised and celebrated annually as the Day of Women of The Americas. The main objective of the day is to encourage new initiatives and establish programmes of action to involve women.

This year, the Bureau is hosting a panel discussion to open dialogue around the issues of self-esteem; intimate partner relationships; as well as gendered beliefs that affect women, in an effort to empower them.
