Parents who volunteer their services to nursery and infant schools across Barbados will receive more training to aid their classroom interactions with children.

Over 50 volunteers will attend a two-day workshop hosted by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development at the St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School from tomorrow, Thursday, April 26 to Friday, April 27.

It gets under way from 9:30 a.m. each day and will be facilitated by teachers Gem Green and Jacqueline Wentworth-Linton of St. Bartholomew Primary and Reynold Weekes Primary, respectively. The theme for the workshop will be Music, Movement and the Creative Arts.

The training, which started last month, is an ongoing feature of the Ministry’s work that aims to build and improve relations between parents and their children’s school. Parent volunteers usually interact with the young students, assist class teachers with feeding, toilet training, dressing and indoor and outdoor activities.
