An initiative seeking to promote the strengthening of individual family leadership has been developed by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment. It is called Parenting The Next Generation: What am I passing on to my Children?
As part of the Ministry’s Anti-Violence Campaign, the initiative seeks to embrace the notion of ‘strong families, strong communities equals strong nation’.
Parents and guardians between ages 16 and 35 are invited to register and build on their family leadership, decision-making, networking, resilience building and conflict resolution skills, as well as partner with the Ministry, as it seeks to increase the number of community change agents in Barbados.
The free, 10-week online programme will be held twice weekly for a total of 40 contact hours, in partnership with The Potter Centre, Network Services Centre and Parent Education Development in Barbados (PAREDOS).
The interactive sessions will commence on Monday, August 30, and participants are required to have the appropriate devices and internet access, to participate in the programme.
