Educator Esme Bascombe receiving her gift basket from acting Chief Education Officer Laurie King.??

Retired principal Esme Bascombe was honoured for her yeoman service to the education sector recently, when she was presented with a token of appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.

In presenting her with a Breakfast Gift Basket, acting Chief Education Officer, Laurie King, noted that the former educator was one of his mentors when he started his teaching career at the then Pine Primary School, now Grantley Prescod Primary.??

He described her as "an individual who was always very knowledgeable and professional in her approach to teaching and often went beyond the call of duty to ensure that her charges received the best education possible".

Ms. Bascombe, who had worked in the teaching service for over 40 years, was among some 70 retired educators to be honoured as part of the activities coordinated by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development to celebrate Education Month.????kmoore@barbados.gov.bb
