Government has commenced construction on two new sports pavilions at Bayleys and St. Martin’s Mangrove, St. Philip.

News of this has come from Minister of Sports, Stephen Lashley, who said work had started at both locations during the middle of March and should be completed by the first week in July.

It is being done jointly by the National Sports Council and the National Housing Corporation on the recreational area that adjoins Bayleys Primary School, and the space west of the playing field of St. Martin’s Mangrove Primary School.

Mr. Lashley pointed out that both pavilions would be used by the students and residents of surrounding communities. He underscored the importance of these facilities, stating "it now means that the children and the communities will finally have the necessary amenities to assist them in their development".

The National Sports Council manages 69 pavilions across the island.
