Former regular members of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) are advised that they should collect the arrears of monthly pension due to them under the Defence (Pension) Regulations, next Tuesday, April 27, at St. Ann’s Fort.

The pension arrears will be paid for the period ending April 30, and should be collected in person. Personnel are reminded that they will be required to produce a valid form of personal identification (Barbados passport or Identification card).

Individuals residing in Barbados who are unable to appear in person, may send a representative bearing a signed letter of authorisation to collect on their behalf. ??In addition to the letter, the representative must present his/her own personal photo identification and one of the individual being represented.

Persons not residing in Barbados who are unable to return to collect the pension arrears, may send a letter verified by a notary public either indicating a local bank account number against which the funds should be lodged, or authorising a representative to collect on their behalf.

All correspondence should be addressed to: The Chairman, Barbados Defence Force Pensions Committee, Barbados Defence Force, St. Ann’s Fort, Garrison, St. Michael, BB14038.

Pension arrears are due to retired personnel who served at least 15 years in the regular BDF, and who have reached the age of 45. However, survivor benefits and pension arrears for persons who entered the public service in pensionable posts after retiring from the Force will not be paid at this time. Direct contact will be made with such affected persons by the Committee to address their specific claims.
