The Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Public Affairs has advised that businesses and individuals will be allowed to carry out clean-up activities to get rid of volcanic ash on Sunday, April 18.

A notice from the Ministry stated: “Notwithstanding the COVID-19 Directive No. 8, the Attorney General has granted an exemption for all businesses, all enterprises, and all persons to perform clean-up activities on Sunday, April 18, 2021, whether residential or otherwise.”

This forms part of Barbados’ national clean-up effort, following the April 9 eruption of the La Soufrière volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which caused ash to cover the entire island.
