The deadline for filing 2020 Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns has been extended to Monday, May 31, 2021. (BRA)

Taxpayers now have an extra month to file their 2020 Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns. The deadline has been extended from April 30, 2021, to Monday, May 31, 2021.

Taxpayers should note that 2020 PIT payments originally due by April 30, 2021, are also required by the new deadline.

The extension has been granted to facilitate employers who may need to make further amendments to previously uploaded monthly payroll data on behalf of their employees. This may have affected the timely filing of accurate returns by individuals.

Other third-party providers such as trade unions and charities should also make any necessary corrections as soon as possible.

The Authority also recognises that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent downpour of volcanic ash, may have delayed taxpayers’ efforts to fulfil their filing and payment obligations.

Although the deadline has been extended, the Authority encourages taxpayers whose third-party information is accurate in TAMIS, to file their returns and make any associated payments online as early as possible.
