Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kenneth George. (FP)

Health officials are urging persons who may have come into contact with anyone associated with the COVID-19 cluster linked to a church in Speightstown, St. Peter, to present themselves for testing.

This was out of an abundance of caution said Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kenneth George, who added that it would assist the Ministry of Health and Wellness in carrying out the necessary contact tracing to identify primary contacts.

Dr. George called on members of the public to cooperate with the ministry in an effort to contain any further spread of the virus linked to that cluster.

A primary contact is someone who has come into close contact with a person or persons confirmed by a lab test to be positive for COVID-19.

Close contact is considered to be a distance of less than six feet, for a period of more than 15 minutes without wearing a mask.

Anyone who suspects they have been exposed should go to one of the designated testing centres – Branford Taitt Polyclinic, Black Rock, St. Michael; Eunice Gibson Polyclinic, Warrens, St. Michael, or the Wildey Gymnasium, St. Michael.
