Motorists will be paying slightly less for petroleum products in the next couple of days.

Effective midnight, Sunday July, 4, the retail price of gasoline will decrease from $2.53 to $2.39 per litre – a saving of 14 cents.?? The price of diesel will move from $2.19 to $2.09 – down by 10 cents; while the retail price of kerosene will now be six cents less at $1.34, down from $1.40.

Government has a mechanism in place to adjust petroleum prices in a more timely fashion, whereby prices will be regulated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Empowerment, Innovation, Trade, Industry and Commerce, on the advice of the Division of Energy.

This mechanism is now in use and price changes will be more frequent (i.e up or down) in accordance with the imported price of petroleum products. jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
