Approximately 70 pharmacists and pharmacy owners last Wednesday took part in the second stakeholder meeting hosted by the Barbados Drug Service (BDS).

The meeting was held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) and among the issues discussed was the format of the reimbursement form to be used in private participating pharmacies and difficulties being experienced by some pharmacists with the electronic submission of reimbursement forms.

Coming out of the discussions, it was suggested that a small committee of BDS personnel and pharmacists was needed to work on devising a workable format for the reimbursement form.

Chairman of the Drug Formulary Committee, Dr. Collette George, provided an overview of the process to review the formulary, while Project Team Leader, Cheryl Yearwood, outlined the rationale for the reintroduction of the dispensing fee.

Barbadians will also have an opportunity to hear more about the changes, when the BDS hosts its quarterly public lecture, which will take the form of a panel discussion on Tuesday, March 15, at 7:00 p.m.??
