The public is invited to attend the St. Philip Parish Independence Committee???s (PIC) Night of the Griots event entitled: Freedom.

The event, which will also commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Bussa Rebellion, to be celebrated next year, will take place on Saturday, August 15, at Bayley???s Plantation, St. Philip, at 7:00 p.m.

With the slogan: Taste, Tour, Treasure. Come a Visitor???Leave a Philipine, the event forms a major part of the St. Philip Parish Ambassadors??? parish project, which focuses on community-based tourism.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with an art exhibition, tuk band and steel pan music, while Bajan confectionery and food will be on sale.??There will also be presentations in drama and dance from various performers including Red Plastic Bag, John King and Adrian Green, while the Mighty Gabby and Colin Spencer will guest perform.

Tickets are available from Emerald City Supermarket, Six Roads. The PIC also expects to have its Parish Guide to St. Philip available for purchase.??Patrons are asked to bring blankets and folding chairs.
