Although it will be officially celebrated on Tuesday, September 27, World Tourism Day is already making its mark on the minds of people throughout the globe.

Tourism – Linking Cultures will be the theme this year, with the city of Aswan, Egypt – known for its culture and history – serving as a fitting host for the official celebrations.

With this location in mind, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation has launched the World Tourism Day Photo Competition 2011, which offers the grand prize of a seven-day round trip to Egypt.?? The competition requires Barbadians to submit a photo which represents how tourism brings people from the corners of the earth together.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, August 31, which means those with memorable photos still have the opportunity to participate.??
