Barbadians are being urged to visit the photographic exhibition of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development which is currently on at the Grande Salle of the Tom Adams Financial Centre.

The exhibition depicts education throughout the period 1962 to 2012 and will run until Thursday, October 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily.

Chief Audio Visual Aids Officer of the Media Resource Department (MRD), Walter Harper, has described it as a "visual moment", which Barbadians should not miss as they may find themselves pictured among the exhibits.

"It is a time to let the visual records of our past bring back memories lost, buried or just forgotten. The photo recorded memories would further cement in our minds where we came from and how free universal education has contributed to you and our country and the continuing role it must play in our growth as a society and development as a nation," he said.

The exhibition commemorates 50 years of universal, free, public education and utilises photos from the MRD, the Barbados Government Information Service, The Nation, schools, as well as the public.??

Among its exhibits are photographs of educational institutions, including defunct schools; educational activities such as workshops for professional development and the introduction and use of information technology in schools and portraits of persons who worked in education such as principals, teachers, Chief Education Officers, Education Officers and Ministers.

The early years and progress of the School Meals Department, which is marking 50 years of service as well, will also be on display.
