From February 27 to March 1, Barbados largest agricultural exhibition Agrofest was held in Queen’s Park.

For three days, locals and visitors alike were treated to over 220 exhibits and entertainment for all ages. Below are some of the highlights of Agrofest 2009.

On Friday, February 27, the Governor General visited Agrofest and was escorted through the exhibits by Executive Director of the Barbados Manufacturers Association, Bobbi McKay.

On that same day, school children from across the island also visited the exhibits.

Pupils of the Wesley Hall Primary School made use of the audiovisual material of the Barbados Government Information Service, while others enjoyed viewing the livestock and other animals on the Queen’s Park grounds.

The patrons at Agrofest 2009 were treated to a variety of entertainment, from a flood lit tattoo by the Royal Barbados Police Force,

to an agility dog show,

to a Gymkhana.

Agrofest was more than an exposition of the best fruits and vegetables the island has to offer;

it was also about judging the best livestock on show,

and above all, coming together as a people.
