From April 17 to 19, Prime Minister of Barbados, David Thompson, and the leaders of 33 other nations in the hemisphere convened in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad for the Fifth Summit of the Americas.

The theme of the Fifth Summit of the Americas was "Securing Our Citizens’ Future by Promoting Human Prosperity, Energy Security and Environmental Sustainability".

Below are some of the scenes from the Barbados delegation’s participation in the Summit:

Climate change was high on Barbados’ agenda during talks which were held on Friday between Caricom Heads of Government and the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama. The Prime Minister was also accompanied on his trip to Trinidad by his wife, Mrs. Mara Thompson.
