Are you touched by the loss of life and property, and consequential suffering, in The Bahamas as a result of Hurricane Dorian? Moreover, are you, individually or as part of a business or service club, moved to send relief supplies to The Bahamas?

Then, please contact the Barbados Defence Force at https://www.bdfbarbados.com/help-bahamas/ or email helpbahamas@bdf.gov.bb or call 536-2500.

Chief of Staff Col. Glyne Grannum has explained that while the BDF is not yet ready to start warehousing relief supplies, it has begun compiling a catalogue of the items it may be asked to ship, using three of its largest vessels.

By carefully documenting and quantifying the supplies, Col. Grannum explained, the BDF, through its Barbados Coast Guard arm, would be able to plan for the most efficient method of moving the supplies, given the extent of the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian and the distance between Barbados and The Bahamas.

Just 24 hours ago Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley pledge that once the all-clear is given and there is a clear picture of what is required in The Bahamas, the resources of the Coast Guard would be immediately pressed into service to assist with relief operations.

The Bahamas was lashed with winds upward of 200 kilometres per hour for more than 48 hours when the Category 5 hurricane sat over the chain of islands for much of the last weekend and early part of this week.
