Prime Minister of Jamaica, Bruce Golding??

Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Chairman of CARICOM, has expressed deep sadness at news early this morning of the passing of Prime Minister David Thompson of Barbados.

The Barbados Prime Minister passed away at 2:10 this morning (Oct 23) at his home in St Philip after battling a fight against pancreatic cancer. He was 48 years old.

Mr Golding, in expressing his condolence, said the Caribbean has lost one of its youngest??and most vibrant leaders who remained strong, determined and focussed to the very end. Mr Golding noted that in the short space of less than three years, Prime Minister Thompson had demonstrated strong leadership within the councils of CARICOM and was firmly committed to the region’s goals.

???He fought??a brave fight to the very end demonstrating the unconditional love for his country and a commitment to the people of Barbados. His will be a great loss to the region,’ Mr Golding said.

Mr Golding has sent condolences to his wife Mara, his three children, his family and the government and people of Barbados.
