Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley will address the United Nations Secretary General’s High Level Meeting on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development on Monday, September 24.

The programme of the high‑level meeting will reflect three action areas: building momentum and political support at all levels; stepping up engagement with the private sector; and making the most of innovative solutions to finance the sustainable development goals.

This meeting will take place immediately before the general debate of the UN General Assembly’s 73rd Session, which starts on Tuesday, September 25. During the session, each UN member is expected to deliver a national statement, with Prime Minister Mottley delivering her speech during the afternoon of Friday, September 28.

Ms. Mottley will also participate in a roundtable discussion featuring global Chief Executive Officers and world leaders during the Second Annual Bloomberg Global Business Forum on Wednesday, September 26, which will be held during the UN Assembly. The discussion will focus on building resilient economies and preserving marine ecosystems in island nations.

During the forum, she and a number of Heads of Government of CARICOM have also been invited to a special meeting with the Founder, Michael Bloomberg. It will be held to discuss policy strategies to tackle the growing burden of obesity and being overweight, which are major problems in CARICOM.

The Global Business Forum provides an opportunity for Heads of State/Government and Chief Executive Officers to debate new ideas that move markets and advance partnerships to support growth, stability, peace and prosperity around the world.  The programme will focus on important issues such as global trade, technology as a driver of economic growth, and the future of the environment.
