Climate change and its impact on the Caribbean will come into sharp focus over the next two days, when the British High Commission hosts a conference to raise awareness of this issue.

The meeting, held in conjunction with the Australian Government, the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre and other agencies, takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, November 10, and Thursday, November 11, at the Savannah Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church, beginning at 9:00 a.m each day.?? Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, will deliver the feature address.

During the sessions, resource persons drawn from the various agencies will seek to: raise awareness of the expected impact of climate change on Caribbean countries; encourage technocrats to include elements of climate change into planning and policy implementation; and solidify synergies among CARICOM, the United Kingdom, the European Union and Australia, during International Climate Change negotiations.

Participants will also hear how their respective countries may benefit from change finance opportunities, such as the UN Global Environment and Fast Start Financing facilities.??jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
