Prime Minister Freundel Stuart will lead a five-member delegation to the IV CARICOM-Mexico Summit, which will be held in Belize on Wednesday, October 25.

The delegates will include Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, and her Permanent Secretary, Cecile Humphrey; and Ambassador to CARICOM, Robert Morris.

A New Cooperation Paradigm is the theme of the high-level meeting, in which there will be key discussions on the formulation of technical cooperation programmes in areas considered by CARICOM to be critical to the sustainable development of the region.

During the one-day conference, there will be a ministerial meeting for the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which will be followed by the discussions of the Heads of Government.

The meeting will conclude with the adoption and signing of the CARICOM-Mexico Joint Declaration.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in September 1972, Barbados has enjoyed a close working relationship with Mexico, which is a critical developmental partner that has consistently offered technical and financial cooperation.

This Summit will give Barbados a unique opportunity to review, assess and recommend to Mexico the pertinent developmental areas that should be targeted for technical assistance and financial resources.
