Prime Minister Freundel Stuart wants to see more Chinese tourists coming to Barbados.

Mr. Stuart expressed this wish recently when China???s new Ambassador, Wang Ke, paid him a courtesy call at Ilaro Court.

He told the envoy and her delegation: ???We have great interest in seeing Chinese nationals travelling to Barbados and taking in the cultural and other offerings. As we deepen our relationship, I hope more Chinese visitors will come here and I want to see also an increasing number of Barbadians going to China.???

Mr. Stuart stated that the 36-year-old relationship between Barbados and China was at a high and attributed this in part to Ambassador Wang???s predecessors, whom he said did an excellent job here. He added that the staff of the Chinese Embassy had also shown commitment in the discharge of their responsibility.

Mrs. Wang expressed the view that with increased promotion in China, this country should attract more visitors.

She informed the Prime Minister that the recent CCTV-produced documentary on Barbados had been shown in China last month, and she had received a lot of positive feedback.

During the meeting, the two also discussed the establishment of a Confucius School at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, and the Wildey Gymnasium.
