Public sector workers are being encouraged to use their creativity and writing skills to compose a poem around the theme "HIV Infected Workers Have Human Rights Too".

This invitation has come from the Labour Department, of the Ministry of Labour, as an initiative to mark Love Safely Week, which will be celebrated from Monday, February 14 to Friday, February 18.

The poetry competition forms part of a wider initiative of the Ministry of Labour to promote a supportive environment for persons affected by HIV and AIDS in the workplace.??

The poem’s title should be based on the theme but does not have to be identical to the designated topic. Entries should be no more than 200 words, typed on A4 or 8??x11paper and attached to the completed entry form.

A challenge trophy and winner’s trophy will be presented to the department submitting the winning entry. The winner will receive an individual trophy and dinner for two at Champers Restaurant, while the second placed entry will receive an individual trophy and lunch for two at Brown Sugar Restaurant.?? An individual trophy and a gift voucher will be presented to the third placed competitor.

The winning poem will be published in the Challenge to Change magazine, a newsletter produced by the Office of Public Sector Reform.

Hard copies of poems should be submitted to the Labour Department, 2nd Floor, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael by Friday, February 11, at 4:30 p.m.??
