Commissioner of Police, Darwin Dottin (FP)

Barbadians have been reminded that the Royal Barbados Police Force remains committed to serving the country.

This assurance has come from Commissioner of Police, Darwin Dottin, who was speaking at the 134th Passing out Parade, at the Regional Police Training Center, last Wednesday evening.??

The Commissioner said that there was a need for the Force to improve the services it offered to the public, the technology used to solve crimes and training of its officers.

"There must be a continued commitment to the delivery of training that ensures that investigators not only acquire skills that will enable them to be more efficient and proficient in a dynamic criminal environment, but that our frontline officers become better ambassadors through the acquisition of a full range of customer related skills," he remarked.

Commissioner Dottin added that he was mindful of the "clarion call" from Barbadians who want the Force to improve its service.

"I want to assure all Barbadians that our intention is not to resist those calls for improvement in the way we do business, or how we interact with the public we serve.?? Whilst remaining committed to the search for constant improvement, we are equally confident that the contemplated reforms can be accelerated with the appropriate interventions and support."

The Commissioner welcomed the graduating class into the ranks of the Royal Barbados Police Force, stating that they had some "exciting challenges ahead".

"I am of the view that some of the outcomes from these particular challenges will affect us as private citizens and in our role as law enforcement officers.?? It, therefore, becomes critical for us as individuals and as an organisation to develop definitive and strategic responses to these challenges."

Thirty-four Barbadian recruits graduated from the Regional Police Training Centre, which celebrates its 55th anniversary this year.
