The deadline for the Barbados Port Inc.’s Anniversary Essay Competition is quickly approaching.

Monday, October 31 is the final day for Class four and secondary school students to submit their essays on the topic: How the Bridgetown Port has contributed to the Development of Barbados. Students will have a chance at one of the prizes, and an opportunity to read their essay at one of the Port Authority’s Anniversary celebrations. ????????

The winner in each age group will receive an Apple iPad. Second and third placed entries will receive a laptop computer and a $600 COB Credit Union Savings Account, respectively. The winner’s school will receive a trophy and $2000.

The three age groups are: primary school students ages nine- 11 (400-600 words, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); secondary school students ages 11-13 (600- 800 words, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); and ages 14-16 (800-1000 words).

Essays will be judged on interpretation of the question, content, creativity, style/structure and grammar.

Teachers are reminded to collect essays from students and submit them to the Barbados Port Inc. by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October, 31.
