If everything goes according to plan, Barbados and India could soon be signing a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA).

This was the main issue discussed yesterday during talks between Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Christopher Sinckler, and India???s new High Commissioner to Barbados, Kanwal Jit Singh Sodhi

Both officials expressed a desire for a speedy conclusion to on-going negotiations between the two countries and the signing of the agreement by year end

Discussions were also centred around the provision of scholarships and training opportunities for Barbadians, alternative technologies, climate change, and the 2010 Commonwealth Games being hosted by India.

Barbados and India established diplomatic relations in November 1966.
