The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) advises the public that Ionics Freshwater Ltd., which contributes to the supply of a number of the Authority’s systems, will be offline to facilitate annual maintenance work.

The work is scheduled to start on Sunday, November 18, at 8:00 p.m. and should be completed by Monday, November 19, at 10:00 p.m. This shutdown may result in low pressure and water outages across several districts in four parishes, namely St. James, St. Thomas, St. Michael and Christ Church.

The districts may include Fort George, Belleville, Mount Friendship, Mapp Hill, Tichbourne, Howells Cross Road, Neils, Carrington Village and surrounding areas in St. Michael; Rendezvous, Amity Lodge, Maxwell, Enterprise and neighbouring districts in Christ Church; and in St. Thomas, Bagatelle, Redmans Village, Shop Hill, Arthur Seat, Millennium Heights, Dukes and surrounding areas.

Lancaster, Westmoreland (along Highway 2A), Upper Carlton, Apes Hill, Endeavour, Baywoods and surrounding districts in the parish of St. James are also expected to be affected.

The BWA will do everything possible to minimize the impact of low pressure and water outages to the areas listed. However, as a precautionary measure, customers are encouraged to store an adequate supply of water for the duration of the shutdown.

The BWA apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause customers.
