The Barbados Postal Service (BPS) will host a month of activities as it joins global celebrations for World Post Day, celebrated on October 9.

Celebrations will begin with a church service at the Collymore Rock Church of the Nazarene, Collymore Rock, St. Michael, on Sunday, October 4, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Post Office staff and their family members are invited to join in the worship.

On Friday, October 9, in recognition of World Post Day, the General Post Office (GPO), in Cheapside, St. Michael, will host its Customer Appreciation Day with health testing and product sampling from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

There will also be entertainment from the Royal Barbados Police Force Band from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m.??The following day, Saturday, October 10, the GPO will host an exhibition road tennis match at the Springer Memorial Secondary School, Government Hill, St. Michael, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Members of the public are also invited to put on their walking shoes and join the BPS staff for a Fun Walk on Sunday, October 18, beginning at the GPO???s car park from 4:00 p.m. The walk will climax at the Bay Street Esplanade, Bay Street, St. Michael.

The curtain will come down on the month-long celebrations on Wednesday, October 21, when the BPS will host its second annual lecture at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Hill, St. Michael, from 7:00 p.m. It will be given by Orator and Cultural Researcher, Dr. Marcia Burrowes, and will focus on the impact the post has had on Barbadian society as a result of migration. All are invited.
