Within a few days, three primary school children will receive monetary prizes for winning the Bureau of Gender Affairs and Ministry of Education’s HIV/AIDS Poster Competition.

A prize-giving ceremony will be held on Friday, January 27, at the Valley Resource Centre, St. George, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The winner will get $1000, while the school he/she attends will receive $1500. ??The first runner-up will get $500 and the school $1000, while the third-placed winner will receive $300 and the school will collect $700.

Trophies will also be presented to the school which submitted the most entries, as well as to these students who produced the most creative, original and impactful posters.

The competition, His Business, Her Business – HIV is Everybody’s Business, was held last September for Class Three pupils at the St. George-based primary schools. After being sensitised about the gender dimensions of HIV/AIDS and given information on how the disease is contracted, students at four of the schools participated in the competition.
