A fresh attempt will be made to breathe ???new life??? into the pottery industry. To this end, a group of potters from Chalky Mount, St. Andrew, will be hosting a number of craft fairs to heighten awareness about the industry.

Commencing this coming Saturday, July 6, and continuing until Saturday, August 10, pottery lovers will get the opportunity to purchase their favourite piece of pottery to adorn every room in their homes.

From Mondays to Thursdays, the public will see the potters in their natural environment as they work from inside their shops; while on Fridays, their operations will move outdoors under tents.

Patrons will also get to see pottery demonstrations daily and interested persons can also ???take a turn??? on the wheel for a small fee.
During the craft fairs, patrons may purchase pottery at reduced prices and traditional pieces such as plant and coal pots, would also be available.

The Ministry of Tourism is fully supportive of the initiative by the Chalky Mount potters and is providing sponsorship for one of the fairs.

Further information on the craft fairs may be obtained by calling the Coordinator, John Springer, at 422-9682.
