The Office of the Advisor on Poverty Eradication and the Millennium Development Goals will this Friday, January 12, officially hand over another house which was completed during one of its poverty eradication programmes.

The new house is located at lot 65, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael.

Ms. Christine Harewood and family will become the occupants of the third house in the ‘Carrying Out the Promise’ programme, an initiative of the Office of the Advisor and Operation Mobilisation (OM).

Carrying Out the Promise started in June last year, with Advisor, Hamilton Lashley, urging Barbadians to volunteer their time, services and materials to the cause.

His office, along with OM, conceptualised the programme which has seen crucial repairs done to some 60 houses to date.  The programme also identified five houses which were to be totally rebuilt.

The completion of the latest unit was possible through a joint partnership of government, civil society and the private sector.
