Minister of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development asks students about their dream??jobs following the prefect installation ceremony at the St. Lawrence Primary School,??Christ Church, today. (A.Miller/BGIS)??

It was a special morning for girls and boys donned in bright blue uniforms, as 16 students of the St. Lawrence Primary school were installed as prefects.

Before officially receiving their pins from Amrel Phillips, a representative from the schools’ partner, the Accra Beach Hotel, students were offered words of guidance by Minister of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development, Denis Kellman.

Suggesting that the new prefects should feel honoured for having been chosen, Minister Kellman told the children that "You are at your foundation stage of leadership…if you are building a house, there is a foundation, walls and a roof…it is what you do with the foundation that will decide what type of walls you will build and what type of roof you will put on your life.?? You must ensure that you develop the right cultures right now."?? He also noted that the prefects should report wrong doing when they saw it, but also advised all students in attendance to ensure that they all remained accountable for their actions and that of their peers.

School Principal, Gloria Bryan, explained that the decision to choose their "ambassadors" had been carefully taken, and she counselled the 16 to be leaders, not followers.?? She also encouraged all students to always give of their best, as this morning’s ceremony revealed that "good does not go unnoticed".
