The preliminaries for the popular Community Dance Fest, formerly known as the Indepen-DANCE Festival, will now commence at month end.

Chief Community Development Department Officer, Sandra Greenidge, said the dates for registration and the start of the preliminaries have now been changed to accommodate additional entries and preparation.

She revealed that registration now closes this Friday, November 13, while judging of the first preliminary, the Northern Zone’s, will be held at the Coleridge and Parry School on Monday, November 23, one week later than the original date.

The Southern Zone contest will take place the next day, Tuesday, November 24, at the Foundation School while on Wednesday, November 25, it will be the turn of the St. Michael North Zone at the St. Michael School.

The final preliminary, St. Michael South, will get under way on Thursday, November 26, at the same venue. Admission is free and all shows start at 6:00 p.m.

Community Dance Fest, which is in its fourth year, is coordinated by the Community Development Department in collaboration with the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat, the National Cultural Foundation and the Commission for Pan-African Affairs.
