A team from the Barbados Water Authority’s Waste Water Division (WWD) and consultants from Trinidad and Tobago have started prepping for the installation of a bypass, in an effort to relieve the overflows of sewage on the south coast.
A sewer bypass allows for sewage to be temporarily pumped around a faulty pipe, in order to facilitate repairs.
According to a statement issued by the WWD this afternoon, the teams were “putting a red to purple dye in the sewage system in order to conduct tests before starting work on the bypass”.
The Division has cautioned residents, businesses and road users in Hastings and Worthing, Christ Church, that while the dye used is not harmful, it may stain.
It added that the tests were mandatory and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
