The rationale behind the hosting of the inaugural Barbados Students At Risk Conference will be outlined tomorrow, Tuesday, October 30, when the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development hosts a press briefing, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC), Two Mile Hill.

Senior Education Officer, Joy Adamson, will chair the session, which starts at 11:00 a.m. in the foyer of the LESC.

Also in attendance will be Dr. Pedro Noguera, the Peter L. Agnew Professor at New York University, who delivered the keynote address on the opening night of the conference; Keith Brown, Motivational Speaker from 20/20 Enterprises, Atlanta Georgia; Christian Moore, Founder of the "Why Try" model; Juanita Brathwaite, Senior Psychologist in the Ministry of Education and John Hollingsworth, Senior School Attendance Officer.

The Barbados Students At Risk Conference, which runs until Wednesday, October 31, has been deemed by Minister of Education and Human Resource Development, Ronald Jones, in his message to conference participants, as "fitting". He noted that it focuses on students "who, primarily, through no fault of their own, have to endure a combination of physical, psychological, social and economic challenges that adversely impact on their total development."
