Ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to train health professionals will be highlighted this Wednesday, July 13 during a press briefing.

It will discuss the Urgent Care/Train the Trainers course for nurses, doctors, environmental health officers, pharmacists and Health Promotion Officers which

seeks to enhance their skills in designing, facilitating and conducting training for their staff, colleagues and the public.

This workshop is a collaborative effort between the Barbados Community College (BCC) and the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to emphasise a competence-based approach to health care. ??Its key aim is to link critical concepts in competence-based education and training to?? desired outcomes of training, and participants will be provided with opportunities to share with peers their own expertise as trainers.

On Wednesday, Minister of Health, Donville Inniss will take the opportunity at the press briefing to highlight the importance of the training to the Health Ministry and the country as a whole. The briefing will be held from 11:30 a.m. in Conference Room 509, Ministry of Health, Frank Walcott Building, Culloden Road, St. Michael.

Principal of the BCC, Dr. Gladstone Best will also be in attendance, as well as representatives from the Ministry.
