Principals of primary schools across the island are expected to converge at the Accra Beach Resort tomorrow, Thursday, October 7, for their inaugural Association of Public Primary School Principals’ (APPSP) conference.

The event, which forms part of the activities planned to celebrate Education Month, will be held under the theme "Empowering Principals through Sustained Professional Development" and will have veteran educator Dr. Lynne Long, as facilitator.?? She is expected to speak on the topic Effectively Managing Differentiated Instruction.??

Dr. Long is also the President and Chief Executive Officer of LongView Associates, a consulting firm in the United States, specialising in the design, development and deployment of programmes that promote rigorous and relevant content, strategies, and organisational support for those in the teaching and learning environment.

Other presentations will be made by Operations Officer (Education) at the Caribbean Development Bank, Dr. Idamay Denny and Senior Lecturer in Educational Administration at the University of the West Indies’ Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Maureen Lucas.?? They will speak on Effective Instructional Leadership in the Context of the Expanding Role of the Principal and "The Road Less Travelled: Capacity Building in Schools, respectively.

Acting Chief Education Officer, Laurie King, is also expected to make remarks at the meeting. kmoore@barbados.gov.bb
