Congratulatory greetings are still pouring in to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley on Barbados’ attainment of parliamentary republican status last November 30.

On Monday, Prime Minister Mottley received a special proclamation from Governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker Jr., which was presented by a member of his staff, Barbadian Joyce Stanton, during a brief ceremony at Ilaro Court.

Ms. Stanton, accompanied by her daughter, Michelle Brathwaite, read the citation from the Governor, in which he urged all Barbadian citizens in the State to celebrate the event.

Ms. Stanton also extended personal congratulations and best wishes to the Prime Minister and the people of Barbados and stated that she was proud to be a Barbadian.

The Prime Minister asked Ms. Stanton to convey the appreciation of the Government and people of Barbados to Governor Baker and expressed a desire for Massachusetts and Barbados to deepen ties.
