Prince Harry of Britain is in Barbados on a three-day official visit.

He arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport today on a British Airways flight at approximately 3:50 p.m. and was met on the tarmac by Parliamentary Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner.

The Prince then proceeded to the Grace Adams Suite, where he also met British High Commissioner, Paul Brummell, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bertie Hinds and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Barbados Defence Force, Commander David Dowridge.

Their discussion focussed mainly on the recent tragedy in Haiti, with Prince Harry expressing concern not only about the infrastructural damage, but the psychological trauma that was being experienced by persons there.

Senator Sandiford-Garner also told Prince Harry about Barbados’ Relief Effort, highlighting tomorrow’s concert and telethon at Farley Hill National Park.????

Immediately following his departure from the airport, the Prince, who is third in line to the British throne, paid a courtesy call on Governor-General Sir Clifford Husbands at Government House, during which they held private talks.

Prince Harry is expected to pay a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, tomorrow and later in the day, he, along with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, will tour the Barbados Museum, and attend a children’s garden party there.
